Tama Desk by Walter Knoll: Veneer used to perfection

Bad Honnef/Herrenberg. With the “Tama Desk”, Walter Knoll has a desk in its portfolio which, in addition to great design and elegant appearance, offers a fine and unique surface made of the best veneer. The finest walnut or oak veneer lends the sculpture, designed by EOOS in Austria, with its three cleverly designed blade legs and the cabinet with pull-out more than a touch of “je ne sais quoi” - it is a veritable eye-catcher, finished with the fillet of the tree.

The veneered Tama Desk is craftsmanship at its best. “The Tama Desk has nothing to do with the design of a typical piece of furniture - apart from the fact, perhaps, that it has a drawer”, explains Clemens Schmidt, developer at Walter Knoll. The veneers used on this table are drawn around the tabletop and all other rounded elements using a new vacuum method. As a result, the cabinet and the drawer, with its interior lined with soft leather, were transformed into high-quality unique elements. “The result is truly impressive”, affirmed Ursula Geismann, Secretary of Initiative Furnier + Natur (IFN) and explained further: “The wonderful surface of the desk with its unusual surfaces and the carcass without corners and edges transfixes onlookers. Veneer with its fascinating look could not be used better than on this wonderfully shaped work of art that impresses no matter which way you look at it.” IFN/DS
