Roser AG Birsfelden:Walnut veneer lends a Basel-designed kitchen natural elegance
Zülpich/Birsfelden. A recent kitchen project by Davidküchen Basel, realised in close collaboration with Roser AG, demonstrates just how powerful the presence of genuine natural materials can be in modern interior design. At the heart of the design is a material that has stood for warmth, character and sustainability for generations: veneer.
The spacious, light-filled kitchen combines timeless architecture with precision craftsmanship. The gently rounded cooking island, in particular, forms the design focal point of the room. Its organic design language creates a sense of calm and lends the space a soft, inviting dynamism. For this distinctive surface, Davidküchen Basel chose a walnut veneer from Roser AG. The selection was made at konzept.raum in Birsfelden – where architects, designers and clients can experience the diversity of genuine wood veneers first-hand. The fine grain and harmonious colouring of the walnut veneer add warm accents and provide an elegant contrast to the kitchen’s light-coloured fronts.
“Veneer is a genuine natural product – and that’s exactly what you can sense here,” says Fabian Sager, who is responsible for veneer projects at Roser AG. “It brings warmth to modern spaces, creates an emotional connection and, at the same time, enables a particularly resource-efficient use of wood.” The result is a kitchen that goes far beyond mere functional requirements. It becomes the heart of the home: a place for cooking, socialising and enjoying life. The combination of precise planning, high-quality craftsmanship and the natural elegance of the ‘fillet of the tree’ impressively demonstrates just how versatile and valuable this material can be in upmarket interior design. “It is particularly in private homes that veneer reveals its full potential,” concludes Dirk-Uwe Klaas, Managing Director of the Initiative Furnier + Natur (IFN), commenting on the project. “It combines design excellence and natural beauty in a way that resonates with people.” IFN/DS
Initiative Furnier + Natur (IFN)
The Initiative Furnier + Natur (IFN) e.V. was founded in 1996 by the German veneer industry and its partners. Today, it is supported by European companies from the veneer industry, the retail sector and the veneer-processing industry, as well as trade associations within the timber industry. The association’s aim is to promote veneer as a natural, all-round material.
