A true natural wonder at Roser AG:
Zülpich/Birsfelden. If this tree could talk, it would have a lot of stories to tell: a bog oak from Poland is around 3,000 years old, from which Roser AG in Birsfelden, Switzerland, has cut more than 3,400 square metres of the finest veneer. Its distinctive dark colouring makes it the ideal surface for extravagant and extraordinary projects.
In a sense, this unique oak tree first saw the light of day in the Bronze Age or early Iron Age. At that time, the tree fell - possibly during a storm - and fell into a river or lake. There it was covered by sediments and thus preserved for eternity. The result is an attractive veneer that causes a stir with its beautiful dark colour and individual grain. ‘The veneer obtained is truly unique. We believe that this ancient and beautiful material is ideal for yacht building, the interior design of high-quality aircraft or, more generally, for exclusive interior design,' says Fabian Sager, who is responsible for veneer projects at Roser. Dirk-Uwe Klaas, Managing Director of the Initiative Furnier + Natur (IFN), states: ‘This veneer is a real feast for the eyes. And once it has been processed, it will live a second life for many more years. What could be more sustainable and more sensible in terms of global climate change?' IFN/DS
Initiative Veneer + Nature (IFN)
The Initiative Furnier + Natur (IFN) e.V. was founded in 1996 by the German veneer industry and its partners. Today it is supported by European companies from the veneer industry, the trade and the veneer processing industry as well as trade associations of the wood industry. The aim of the association is to promote veneer as a natural all-round material.
