Small areas with a big impact:
Roser AG refines Raiffeisenbank Therwil with fine walnut veneer
Zülpich/Birsfelden. A warm yet modern look – that was the goal for the interior design of the Raiffeisenbank Therwil premises in Switzerland. Roser AG from Birsfelden made a small but significant contribution to this with the supply of first-class US walnut veneer.
The contract for the renovation of the bank was awarded to the Zwicky joinery in Aesch, Switzerland. Project manager Christof Dürr chose a 0.9 millimetre thick, rift-cut raw veneer made of American walnut in the Roser AG concept room. ‘Rift cut means that the veneer is produced using a special cutting process in which the wood is cut at an angle of around 15 degrees to the trunk radius,’ explains Fabian Sager, who is responsible for veneer projects at Roser AG. ‘This creates a fine, straight grain with high dimensional stability, as the annual rings run almost perpendicular to the surface.’
Select quality for a special ambience
The walnut veneer was delivered in several stages, coordinated with the construction progress of the Zwicky joinery. "Thanks to the individual selection and the coordinated delivery schedule, we were able to tailor the look exactly to the design ideas and high-quality interior fittings of the bank. The choice of this elegant walnut veneer contributes significantly to the warm, modern appearance of the new bank premises," says Fabian Sager, describing the project.
A total of around 150 square metres of surface area was veneered – a detail that now gives the bank's premises that certain something. Christof Dürr is also enthusiastic: ‘It was a pleasure to use the uniform walnut veneer for the interior design.’
The managing director of Initiative Furnier + Natur (IFN), Dirk-Uwe Klaas, agrees: "Veneer plays a significant and increasingly important role in interior design. The result also highlights the high quality of craftsmanship of the carpentry firm that carried out the work. Both employees and customers can feel extremely comfortable in the newly designed bank premises." IFN/DS
