Modernisation project in Switzerland:
Roser AG supplies veneer
for the renovation of „BLKB Ae
Zülpich/Birsfelden. During the renovation of the Basellandschaftliche Kantonalbank (BLKB) in Aesch, the local carpentry firm Zwicky once again collaborated with Roser AG from Birsfelden. The company supplied several running metres of specially selected European oak veneer with a thickness of 0.9 mm, manufactured in an arrow shape with a 58-degree angle. The veneer decks were assembled and tailored to the requirements of the joinery. In order to create a design connection to the BLKB's corporate design, Roser AG deliberately combined lighter and darker oak packages. This created a light-dark arrow structure that is based on the bank's logo and supports the appearance of the interior. ‘The project shows how veneer can be used in a targeted manner to precisely implement design specifications,’ says Fabian Sager, responsible for veneer projects at Roser AG, and explains further: ‘The collaboration with the Zwicky joinery was characterised by clear requirements and careful coordination.’ The Initiative Furnier + Natur (IFN) is also impressed by the result of the veneer application. Dirk-Uwe Klaas, Managing Director of IFN, confirms: ‘The veneer used in Aesch illustrates how natural wood design can contribute to the identity of a room. It is a good example of the conscious use of a sustainable material, which is also the thinnest solid wood in the world.’ IFN/DS Initiative Furnier + Natur (IFN) The Veneer + Nature Initiative (IFN) was founded in 1996 by the German veneer industry and its partners. Today, it is supported by European companies from the veneer industry, trade and veneer processing industry, as well as trade associations from the wood industry. The aim of the association is to promote veneer as a natural, versatile material.
